Stacked Cabins Interventions
The following projects are interventions in the existing house 'Stacked Cabins' by Johnson Schmaling architects.
Tropbad
A sliding door leads into the bathroom, which creates a rainforest atmosphere. This atmosphere is emphasized by the polished black screed floor and a tropical plant box on the slate-clad installation wall.
The arrangement of shower and then bath tub is based on the Japanese way of cleansing body, mind and soul. The freestanding graphite bath tub looks out through the windows into the forest behind it thanks to its diagonal arrangement in the room.
The spaciousness of the bathing area is enhanced visually by the teak slatted floor.
The tropical wood can also be found in the framed built-in cabinet behind the bath tub and under the graphite washbasin. The brass fittings create a metallic accent.
Genuss ist muss
Good cuisine is like a high-quality wine. It provides the opportunity for great enjoyment, accompanies and enhances a wide range of dishes and has an aesthetic effect that goes far beyond the merely functional. The kitchen was developed according to this principle.
As the only room in the house where guests are received, a richly stocked wine rack is integrated, in front of that two people can retreat as if in a lounge. Next to it, a laundry room is hidden behind a sliding door to conceal the technical appliances.
The round dining table seats up to eight guests on different colored chairs to enjoy good food and wine. The dark marble worktops and wooden kitchen fronts give the kitchen living space a warm and natural look.
